Counselor view: Highly competitive. Selective university (CUHK degree standards) with IELTS 6.5 and strong maths expectations; scholarships are competitive. General guidance only, not an admission prediction.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is a public university in Shenzhen, in southern China next to Hong Kong, founded in 2014 with The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Teaching follows CUHK's system and is mainly in English, across schools of management and economics, science and engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, humanities and social science, music and medicine. Graduates receive a CUHK degree. International students apply online in rounds, and admitted students are automatically considered for entry scholarships of up to full tuition plus living costs. On-campus housing is very cheap at about CNY 2,400 a year. It is not ranked separately from CUHK in the QS rankings.
Advice from our counselors
CUHK-Shenzhen is a high-quality option for strong Mongolian students who want an English-taught degree in China and a CUHK degree: tuition is high (CNY 162,000 a year), but the automatic entry scholarships range up to full tuition plus living, and campus housing costs only CNY 2,400 a year. Admission is selective: IELTS 6.5 (Duolingo not accepted) and strong maths for business or science. Mongolia is not on the published qualification list, so email admissions early to confirm the national diploma is accepted. The Early Bird round has closed; apply in the Regular Round by 7 March 2027, because the Late Round has very few scholarships. Prepare the CNY 60,000 bank statement and CNY 19,000 deposit.
