Privacy notice
Many of our users are under 18. We collect as little personal information as possible and use it only for college counseling at Empathy Schools.
What we collect
- Visitors can browse universities, scholarships and guides without an account. Scores entered in search filters stay in the page address and are not stored.
- Students provide their name and email to create an account, and may add academic information (grade, GPA, test scores) and university preferences.
- Counselors may record appointments and counseling notes about their assigned students.
Who can see it
- Student profiles and academic records are never public.
- Only the student, their assigned counselor and school administrators can see a student’s records. This is enforced by the database, not just the website.
- Counselor notes are visible to students only when a counselor explicitly shares them.
- Uploaded documents are stored in private storage that is not publicly accessible.
Your choices
- You can update your name and academic information at any time.
- To delete your account and data, ask the counseling office; administrators will remove it.
- Changes made by staff to the university database are recorded in an audit log.
